C. Ann Butler letter, 1865.

This collection consists of a letter, written January 30, 1865, by C. Ann Butler and sent to her husband, William Butler. In the letter she discussed her concerns over not hearing from him since October 1864. She briefly discusses family members and their children attending school. This letter was removed from a knapsack found close to a body on the battlefield.

C. Ann Butler lived with her children in Freedman's Village in Arlington, Virginia during the Civil War. Her husband, William Butler, served in Company H, 2nd U. S. Colored Troops.
